Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has disputed claims by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his role in the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as president in 2015.

Speaking during an interview on The Mic On Podcast, Oshiomhole said Amaechi did not participate in voting during the 2015 general election, alleging that he directed supporters in Rivers State to stay away from the polls.

He argued that the claim of having delivered victory for Buhari was inconsistent with Amaechi’s actions at the time.

“Amaechi lied that he made Buhari president. Amaechi was not able to vote for Buhari in 2015 because he unwisely directed the people of Rivers State to boycott the polls as he was overwhelmed by the forces of Wike,” Oshiomhole said.

He further stated that, as Director-General of Buhari’s campaign, Amaechi instructed his political base not to vote during the election.

The response comes after Amaechi, in a recent interview with Arise News, said he played a decisive role in Buhari’s 2015 victory, a claim that has continued to generate disagreement within political circles.

In the interview, Amaechi maintained that his contribution outweighed that of other key figures, including President Bola Tinubu, in securing Buhari’s win.
